WHAT THIS IS:

A set of crosshairs for every weapon in Apotheosis X. A creative experiment.

- - -

THINGS YOU MIGHT WANNA KNOW:

The bar HUD is built in. Currently, there is no fullscreen option.

The crosshairs' size is tied to the HUD Size setting in the Graphics menu. They were designed for the Double size setting.

Be aware that these are not all centered on the screen, but attempt to fall within each gun's firing error.

KNOWN ISSUES:

Only works with the Automatic screen resolution (at least, on my machine). This is also true for the M2 Default HUD it is based on.

SOME DESIGN NOTES FOR ANYONE WHO CARES:

Fists:
Yup, the fists have a crosshair. Meant to be unintrusive, while still letting you see just where your punch connects. Based on the Instinct crosshair from MedXHairs, a crosshairs pack for Doom by Medicris.

Pistol:
The shape mimics the lights on the weapon itself. After a lot of tweaking, I still worry it's not transparent enough.

Battle Rifle:
The X-shape is inspired by the Rubicon assault rifle's muzzle flash, of all things. Experimented with a ladder sight for the grenade, but I didn't really like how it turned out, so I went with a simple crescent to mark the height of the grenade's arc when tilted upward.

N-Cannon:
This was the first one I started work on; it kind of shows if you look close. Like the XBLA crosshairs, incorporates the Pfhor three-dot formation. The UESC must be pretty used to stealing the N-Cannon by now. They even drew orange lines around the crosshair it came with.

Arc Driver:
One of my favorites, very fun to make. Incorporates elements from several places: The gun's overall hexagon shape, the large circular light, and the L-shaped markings from the ammo display.

Banshee:
Had trouble landing on a design I liked with this one. It's a bit large, but I felt the wide beams called for a wide crosshair. In an earlier draft, this had faint caution stripes on the edges, as I was under the impression this was a repurposed mining tool or something at the time. Only Banshee-certified personnel may operate this equipment.

Caseless:
Speaking of troublesome designs. I redrew this crosshair so many times. Still not fully satisfied, but this is the closest I've gotten. Tried working with a corkscrew shape, but the vertical firing error of the weapon just made it feel wrong. Ended up borrowing from the cross-section on the HUD. The outer markings in the center may still be too busy. Most likely to be revisited if I decide to touch these up.

RPG Launcher:
Finished this quite early on. Simple, but does the job. Considered adding a few extra bits, but that may just end up cluttering the screen more than it needs to. Durandal said it best.

Astra:
Had fun with this one. Draws inspiration from the weapon's wire mesh/heat sink barrel. This was the last crosshair I started on. I began this project only about a chapter in, but decided to wait until discovering a given weapon before I drew its crosshair.
